Nick Leason was very upbeat and positive after the first weekend of the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Although Team BTC Racing had no time to test before the first rounds, the
Team did a tremendous job getting the cars built and ready for Brands.
Leason said, "The team have worked extremely hard to get me and Chris Stockton here for the first round. They have put so much work into getting the cars on the grid and they had not turned a wheel until the first practice session on Saturday."
"We were expecting a few problems, which we had with brakes and power steering, and which we resolved. We were making great progress with the development the team had put into the cars, but unfortunately my car was down on power all weekend which was the result of an engine problem, which finally let go in the second race."
Leason still managed to finish the first race in 15th place out of 26 drivers, despite being down on power and was pleased with the progress and the development of the car, especially its handling.
He added, “The car's handling is a big step forward. It’s so predictable and positive and we know we are good under braking and through the corners. We just need to get some more power, which we will have as the development continues. It’s been a frustrating weekend but certainly not a disappointing one, as we know we have made good progress and will have a good package very soon. The team are very pleased with the whole weekend and are ecstatic at the progress that has been made. They have all done a really great job. It has also highlighted the areas that we need to now work on." |
