Team RAC will be looking to finish the season on the podium when the
Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visits Thruxton on Sunday
14 October.
It is the second time this year the BTCC has visited the Hampshire
circuit and Team RAC are confident they can continue their good form
and improve on their 5th (Turkington, 171 points) and 10th (Onslow-
Cole, 107 points) placed positions in the drivers' championship.
After success in the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Brands
Hatch Colin Turkington will be in a confident mood. The Ulsterman
secured superb third and fourth finishes for Team RAC and will be
looking to continue this success at Thruxton.
Onslow-Cole will be also be feeling positive as it sees him returning
to the circuit which saw him secure a race win and third placed
finish in the Renault Clio Cup last year.
Tom Onslow-Cole said: "My first season with Team RAC has been
fantastic. The team have been extremely supportive and I have learnt
a great deal. The last round at Knockhill was frustrating for me as
I was disqualified in the first race but I am happy with the
performance of the car and Thruxton is one of my favourite circuits.
I am looking to finish the season with some consistent race
performances and pick up some valuable points for the team."
Colin Turkington commented: "I was thrilled to record a podium finish
for Team RAC/WSR in the World Touring Car Championships. It was a
great opportunity to develop my skills and test myself on the world
stage. I will also be taking part in the final round of the WTCC at
Macau which will be a tough challenge but I one I am determined to
rise to.
For now I am now fully focused on the final round of the British
Touring Car Championship. I am aiming to move up to 4th place in the
driver standings, in front of Matt Neal who is only one point ahead
of me. It has been a great season and I am hoping to get a win for
Team RAC who have worked tirelessly to get us in the great position
we are in."
RAC will be continuing its 'RAC to the rescue' campaign at Thruxton,
which provides benefits to enhance the race day experience of fans at
every round of the championship.
Tying into RAC's latest TV advertising campaign, which features
Vinnie Jones, the activity will see RAC coming to the rescue of fans
by offering them the chance to win VIP Hospitality with Team RAC at
Thruxton.
Alastair Pegg, RAC Director of Marketing, said: "It was fantastic to
see Colin secure a podium for Team RAC in the WTCC at Brands Hatch.
RAC is committed to supporting British motorsport talent and this was
a great chance for Colin to prove himself against the best in the
world. We're hoping that we carry this success into the BTCC and end
the brilliant season on a high.
RAC thought it was only right, for the final round of the season,
that we offer fans the chance to celebrate Team RAC's success by
giving them the opportunity to enjoy VIP hospitality through our RAC
to the rescue campaign. Supporters should log onto teamrac.co.uk,
look out in the media and at the rounds themselves for details of our
activity and how they can take part."
RAC will also be running a mobile marketing campaign promoting a
competition to win a Team RAC track day. Race day visitors will
receive a video message from Colin Turkington via their Bluetooth
connection, telling them to enter the competition at the RAC stand in
the trade area. The prize is a PalmerSport Track Day where the lucky
winner will get to drive seven performance cars including a Porsche
911 and Jaguar XKR. Colin Turkington and Tom Onslow-Cole will be on
hand to offer driving hints and tips and to take the winner on a
flying lap in the Team RAC BMW 320si E90. |
