Tempus Sport ready for BTCC debut
Wed 1st April 2009 Tempus Sport makes its HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship debut at Kent’s fabulous Brands Hatch circuit this coming weekend where Harry Vaulkhard will go to battle against Britain’s finest racing drivers in his RML-built Chevrolet Lacetti.
Newcastle-based Harry, 23, will go wheel to wheel with household names like Matt Neal and Fabrizio Giovanardi as he hopes to dice his way through the field for three races which take place on Sunday 5th April. The event is the first of ten on the 2009 season calendar, and all will be broadcast live on ITV4.
Brands Hatch is a challenging circuit. Located a short drive south east of London, the Indy configuration, which will be used, is a roller-coaster 1.22 miles with significant gradient change over its course.
Qualifying for the round one of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship takes place on Saturday at 15:45-16:45 hrs. On Sunday there are three races, starting at 11:30, 14:20 and 16:30 hrs.
Richard Coleman, Tempus Sport Team Director said: “It seems like such a short time ago that we started putting the team together and now here we are poised to start our first races of 2009. Brands is a great circuit and we’ve seen what the RML Chevrolet Lacetti can do here in the World Touring Car Championship, so we’re very positive going into our first ever BTCC race. We were hoping to have a second car out at Brands too, unfortunately that hasn’t quite come together yet. However, we’re working on several options to have a second car out later in the year. It’s going to be quite some weekend for us. The team may be new, but our crew oozes experience, this will be the first time when we get to put that all into practice for a race weekend.”
Harry Vaulkhard, Tempus Sport driver said: “I cannot wait to get the season started! The Brands Indy circuit is a great little track and it feels as if you are constantly turning a corner as you never seem to have the steering wheel pointed straight. I’ve got mixed emotions about my previous experiences at Brands, as I had a race win and fastest lap here in 2007, but a big crash in 2005. For this year, the Chevrolet’s got great potential and if we get it dialled-in to the track we should be set for good results.”
