Tempus Sport ready for step forward at Donington
Tue 12th May 2009 Tempus Sport head to internationally renowned Donington Park for the third round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship over the weekend of May 16-17 where driver Harry Vaulkhard is hoping to work his way up the top ten order.
Twenty-three year old Harry from Newcastle will start his third race weekend with the most exciting new team in Britain’s biggest motor racing championship at the challenging East Midlands race venue, which was the scene of Harry’s first-ever motor racing race win and also one of his points scoring venues in his rookie 2008 season.
The circuit offers a 1.96 mile undulating challenge including the exciting downhill Craner Curves. It’s a track where good car balance and set-up are rewarded and it is frequently the scene for some very good BTCC race action.
This is the third of ten rounds of the BTCC, all of which are broadcast live on ITV4. Qualifying takes place on Saturday at 16:00 to 16:30 hrs. On Sunday there are three races, starting at 11:45, 14:20 and 17:10 hrs.
Richard Coleman, Tempus Sport Team Director said: “We now head to Donington Park which is a fantastic circuit very much suited to touring cars. This will be our third BTCC race meeting and at every event the team is taking a step forward so I’m hoping for good things at Donington. Harry has a good history at the track and scored his joint best result of the season here in 2008 so we should have everything on our side this weekend.”
Harry Vaulkhard, Tempus Sport driver said: “I love Donington and it’s probably my favourite track. It’s a great venue to be a spectator, but an even better place to drive. It was the first circuit where I drove a race car and it’s also where I took my first ever win. I also hold the unofficial Renault Clio Cup lap record there when in 2007 winter series I set the time in free practice but track was wet for qualifying and the races. Everything has been coming together with the team and I think Donington should be somewhere where we can really show our talents. So, to put it simply, I can’t wait to get out in action this weekend.”
