Third row slot for Jackson at Knockhill

Sat 15th August 2009 Warwickshire racing star Mat Jackson will start the first of tomorrow’s [Sunday’s] three HiQ British Touring Car Championship races from row three of the grid at Scotland’s Knockhill circuit.

The Racing Silverline driver set the sixth-fastest time during qualifying in his RML-run Chevrolet Lacetti. His best time of 53.622 seconds was just a quarter of a second slower than the pole time in what proved to be an extremely tight session.

“Row three isn’t bad but I was set for a much better time until I was baulked by a backmarker who didn’t get out of the way,” says Mat. “The time was there in all the sectors, I just wasn’t able to string them together on the same lap. It would probably be an understatement to say I’m frustrated right now.”

The 28 year-old had previously set the quickest time in the day’s first practice session – held in the wet – and is looking forward to a strong race day.

“I know that I have more pace than my qualifying result shows and I’m certain I can use the Lacetti’s strong package to get some good results tomorrow,” he says. “And you never know what the weather is going to do here... we’ve had everything from driving rain to blue skies this afternoon alone.”
