|After a frustrating 2002 season, dogged by engine problems, the Collard racing team makes the step up to the Touring class for 2003, having acquired the Vauxhall Astra Coupe raced by Aaron Slight last year. Team Principal and driver, Rob Collard, will be hoping to capitalize by making a serious assault on the Hilton Independents Cup, whilst at the same time, hoping to trouble the frontrunners in the outright touring class championship.
Founded in 1992 by Rob Collard, Collard Racing initially enjoyed great success in oval racing, claiming British and European Hot Rod titles and finishing in the top three in the world championship. The team moved in to the Formula Ford arena in 1996 and 1997 before contesting the Vauxhall Vectra Challenge in 1999, where Rob finished in 3rd position overall. In the past two seasons the team has entered the production class of the BTCC with a WSR-built Renault Clio.
